Expert Clock Servicing & Maintenance: Keeping Time for Generations

Servicing a clock is, at its heart, a deep professional cleaning. Just as nobody expects their car to run faultlessly for years without maintenance, a high-quality timepiece requires specialist care to ensure longevity.

What Does a Full Clock Service Involve?
A full service involves the complete disassembly of the movement. During this process, every individual part is meticulously inspected for signs of wear, as well as missing, broken, or failed components

Each part is then:
  • Cleaned and restored
  • Repaired or re-manufactured
  • Corrected and replaced where necessary

We recommend a full clock service be carried out every 10 years to preserve the movement.

The Importance of Regular Lubrication

In the period between full services, a lubrication service should be carried out every 3 years. This involves professional re-oiling of the movement

A Note on DIY Maintenance: We beseech you not to try this yourself with a "handy" can of WD-40!

Professional clock oil is thixotropic. Over time, it combines with dust, hair, and moisture to form a syrupy, coagulated paste. This clogs the moving parts, causing them to unsynchronise, jam, or stop altogether. Regular lubrication prevents this "fatal mixing" of substances and keeps the original oil performing as intended.

Professional Clock Repair Since 1974

We always recommend letting a specialist clock repairer handle your timepiece. At Clock Corner, we have been servicing and repairing clocks since 1974, so you know your heirloom is in safe hands.
